Updates are a common feature for all social media platforms. Some updates are subtle, while some are bold and obvious. Updates are meant to improve the user experience even though some people might not like change, at the end of the day we all have to adjust.
Facebook Features in 2020
2020 has been a “different” year. The Covid19 pandemic has disrupted how business operate and has seen companies rapidly going virtual. Facebook is no exception, in a recent announcement, Facebook is beginning plans to have employees work from home permanently.
Since there has been an increase in the number of people and business working from home, Facebook has also released some updates that are aimed to improve user experience.
Facebook just got a massive redesign. Both the desktop website and the mobile app have received a facelift that will hopefully make Facebook easier to navigate. Facebook described it as a much cleaner design, with more of an all-white look. But it also has dark mode, too and you can easily switch between the new and old interface.
Do you sell products online? Do you have an online store or you simply post on your Facebook page or groups?
Facebook has now made it easier for people to create simple but effective online shops on Facebook. Facebook Shops make it easy for businesses to set up a single online store for customers to access on both Facebook and Instagram.
According to Facebook, businesses can choose the products they want to feature from their catalog and then customize the look and feel of their shop with a cover image and accent colors that showcase their brand. This means any seller, no matter their size or budget, can bring their business online and connect with customers wherever and whenever it’s convenient for them.
And just like when you’re in a physical store and need to ask someone for help, in Facebook Shops you’ll be able to message a business through WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram Direct to ask questions, get support, track deliveries and more. And in the future, you’ll be able to view a business’ shop and make purchases right within a chat in WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram Direct.
Facebook released a “Support Small Business” sticker on Instagram and a #SupportSmallBusiness hashtag on the Facebook app to let people show their love for small businesses. Creators on Facebook can also use a new “in support of” tag to promote small businesses to their fans.
Now you or your fans can show support for your business.
What do you think about the new Facebook design and the Facebook shops update? We would love to hear from you.
